Series: Windover Ranch #1
This was a free e-book that I picked up because I was in the mood for a western romance and I just wanted to use my e-reader (I have been neglecting it lately)…
This story seemed to have a simple cookie cutter format: one character wants something more than anything but they can’t have it for some reason, they come up with a solution, problems occur within that solution, another solution, and then a resolution. I know that most stories (if not all) fallow that guide line but it was very obvious as you were reading to see it without having to step back to far.
It has a chick-flick movie sort of plot that probably would have made for a better movie but for me, everything was too drawn out and the characters frustrated me with their lack of confrontation. The banter between the characters and their realistic awkward interactions made it more enjoyable and gives it a slightly more realistic feel. But the main issue was that it felt like everything was being drawn out to the extreme and the author was just trying to end the story because everything happened within the last 20 pages (drama, drama, drama) and it was the kind of drama that has you going, ‘SERIOUSLY?’ The ending was cute and although it was not the most interesting thing out there, it was a quick, enjoyable read.
I will most likely not be continuing the series and I would most likely not recommend this series to others because I feel there are better ones out there in this genre and it was not the most memorable.
